My husband and I are going to attempt to make this culinary feat this weekend. Wish us luck

I don't know what that is, but I'm watching Man vs. Food and they were at LB's in Brooklyn and this looks fantastic for a Sicilian pie.
7/7/2011 9:58:36 PM
It's a reuben on a pizza.
7/7/2011 10:00:21 PM
^^ now that's a motherfucking pizza!none of that thin crust bullshit[Edited on July 7, 2011 at 10:00 PM. Reason : ^]
7/7/2011 10:00:23 PM
rye dough, sauerkraut and mayonnaise sauce, covered by a layer of swiss cheese, and finally with corned beef on topsounds disgusting
7/7/2011 10:00:44 PM
By mayonnaise sauce do you mean 1000 island dressing?
7/7/2011 10:02:04 PM
neither belongs on a pizzaand i just googled the ingredients of a reuben, it said either mayo or 1000 island, i dunno]
7/7/2011 10:05:01 PM
Never heard of a mayo reuben.
7/7/2011 10:07:05 PM
I've never heard of a reuben with mayo on it. That sounds no bueno. I have had a reuben with mustard on it though.
7/7/2011 10:07:32 PM
i dont know shit about whats on a reuben but this site acts like its either http://southernfood.about.com/od/cornedbeefandbrisket/r/bl30320n.htmeither way it doesnt sound appealing to me as a pizza sauce
7/7/2011 10:08:30 PM
If you think about it, a pizza is nothing more than a baked open faced sandwich And don't trust anything on about.com. You should know better.
7/7/2011 10:09:50 PM
i figured they'd at least know sandwich ingredients, i guess i know better now, although the first comment seems to be a better answer" wanted to use some of our left over corned beef from St. Patrick's Day. My dad prefers an open faced Reuben sandwich, so I modified the recipe to accommodate. First, I toasted the Rye bread, buttered the outside, then Thousand Island dressing, thinly sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, topped with Swiss cheese and broiled until cheese bubbled."

whatever NyM410 posted i want in my mouth right nowand yes, i realize how inapprop that soundsAND i already ate pizza for dinnerand like 75 swedish fish. but i lost like 10lbs recently so my stomach can definitely stretch a little.and a reuben on pizza sounds gross to me. i'd rather just have a reuben on really good bread. actually the bread is the main reason i'd ever even eat a reuben. BUT i'm interested in seeing the results of your venture![Edited on July 7, 2011 at 10:11 PM. Reason : .]
7/7/2011 10:10:51 PM
^^^i'm assuming you saw this on Man vs. Food earlier tonight when he was in Ames, Iowa?]
7/7/2011 10:11:10 PM
Man vs. Food is evil. It makes me want to eat things that are terrible for you, like the deep fried bacon wrapped tater tots on the last episode.^ Yes [Edited on July 7, 2011 at 10:12 PM. Reason : x]
7/7/2011 10:12:02 PM
man i love a good reuben...i'll try anything once, like a reuben pizzabut there are so many other kinds of things i like on pizza
7/7/2011 10:13:25 PM
I'm thinking I'll make a caraway crust. Make sure to squeeze the juices out of the sauerkraut so it doesn't get soggy. And pile on plenty of meat.
7/7/2011 10:15:29 PM
i've eaten sauerkraut as a meal before...must be the polish/czech blood in my veinsbut draining it first would be a good idea. no one wants a runny pizza.
7/7/2011 10:16:35 PM
Have you ever had sauerkraut soup before? So tasty I could eat a bucket of sauerkraut by itself I think.
7/7/2011 10:17:40 PM
i have not...but you've got my attention
7/7/2011 10:18:11 PM
I had a Reuben hand pie at PieBird.Twas quite dank.
7/7/2011 10:18:37 PM
This isn't the soup recipe I used but it looks pretty similar: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/sauerkraut-soup-with-sausage-recipe/index.html
7/7/2011 10:25:22 PM
once the fall comes around i will investigate this sauerkraut soup you speak ofright now it's too damn hot for any soup, no matter how delicious
7/7/2011 10:26:47 PM
this sounds freaking AWESOME keep us updated wolfpackgrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
7/7/2011 11:26:24 PM
We made it today. It's really tasty!I made a rye crust with caraway. Let it rise for awhile. Then we used 1000 island as the base and piled on shredded swiss, mozzarella, corned beef, and sauerkraut. I had Harris Teeter slice the corned beef extra thin so the edges would be a tad crispy. Once we took it out we put some pickles on each slice. NOM NOM NOM.
7/10/2011 6:36:19 PM
whats the sodium like on that thing?
7/10/2011 6:38:32 PM
I imagine about the same as the sandwich
7/10/2011 6:39:20 PM
