HiI noticed NC state has a lot of ugly space.... lots of concrete and walls. I am very interested in forming a large project group that works to paint these spaces, we would have lots of changing themes that flow throughout campus and also incorporates nearby stuff (like atrium, rotc, sports teams, different colleges, etc) so people kind of get a close knit feeling to the community.I know its huge, and requires NCstate's approval (which is long and arduous), but I really think it could be awesome.

This could be cool. Maybe try to do in conjunction with CAM?

We should just commission marko
7/8/2011 2:23:10 PM
Yea, I have seen Marko's stuff, that is a good idea. I don't know who/what CAM is, college of ?I really want to see if students are interested, because the amount of space I'm talking is going to take a lot of people

Just make sure not to use chalk on vertical spaces.
7/8/2011 2:44:37 PM
I was thinking paint, even spray paint if we got someone really talented
7/8/2011 3:26:59 PM
I love this idea!
7/8/2011 3:31:21 PM
hire the barrel monster dude!

I like the idea of sprucing up the place but just so we're all clear on a few things:

I appreciate your literal translation of my post..... however I would just like to see the less than appealing, though necessary, structures around campus serve more than just their original purpose. By allowing students to use structures and walls as canvasses for their creativity it can create good memories, a sense of community for current students and visiting ones, and its just fun

dude, Ive already gotten word on that...... Im new, again my bad and sorry to piss everyone off. It was a mistake.

don't let haters get to youwelcome to tww
7/8/2011 7:07:31 PM
Ignore the haters, you already got approval on the first couple posts. But our approval hardly matters. NCSU would never approve this from anyone that wasn't in at least some position of influence. I know the Student Government is a joke but if you can pitch the idea to someone in that, that's something that would bring it attention to some of the -current- student body (not TWW) who might get behind it actively.
7/8/2011 7:14:56 PM
thanks settledown and netstorm, thats why I wanted to start a discussion on here, I need ideas on how to get it approved and stuff. I'm talking to the prof that started art on the move, murals on city buses, and trying to pick his brain. I like the student government idea, its better to come from them than me.
7/8/2011 7:32:10 PM
you should def give it the old college try, but please dont be one of those people who dont follow throughget in contact with people and see what it takes then report back with needs, i'm sure TWW would be more supportive if you had needs like i need _____ amount of alumni to sign this or show up in support of this at _______ location on _____ date/time, i'm even sure some of them might donate cash/supplies/time or help develop ideas, but just having grand ideas doesnt mean they will get done
7/8/2011 7:38:59 PM
I like your idear, Katie.

Alkatraz you are a pain in the ass ... lolCarl thats definitely not what I want to happen. I have been at NCSU for 5 yrs now and have thought about it for a long time, and have never done anything with it.... its a huge commitment, but I wanted to hear other people's idea;s , stories, and advice before getting into it.thanks for the support, I hope somehow it happens.
7/8/2011 7:46:48 PM
@kmyoungs Sorry! It will help you become a better poster in the long ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. @merbig Brick is used as a veneer and has no structural purpose. Most buildings are made out of either wood, concrete, or steel.

7/8/2011 7:52:28 PM
this seemed like a cool idea until I remembered those stupid wolf statues
7/8/2011 7:55:25 PM
What places are you talking about? You mean paint murals? The main issue with this is maintenance... 5 years from now is the uni going to have to pay someone to touch up or wipe out the paintings? This is a great idea but you would need to flesh out the details a bit more for I to gain traction. I think it's feasible though.

a good way to demonstrate how this COULD look is by using projectorsI love projection bombinb
