No discount for the package deal or any acknowledgement for loyal customers who have been using Netflix for years?Boo this man.
7/12/2011 3:11:29 PM
wasn't this already posted today?
7/12/2011 3:13:02 PM

7/12/2011 3:15:29 PM
fuck it i'm going to visart video
7/12/2011 3:16:02 PM
I've had Inception on DVD for about 3 months, so I'm not really using that portion of the service anyway.
7/12/2011 3:19:35 PM
Ugh I was ok when they tacked on an extra $2 for blurays, but this is gonna suck. I was planning to drop back from 3 at a time to 2 to save some money however this may cause that change just to break even.
7/12/2011 3:21:22 PM
meh, i'll just cancel the dvd option and use redbox when I wanna get a newish movie...the netflix dvds usually end up sitting around my house for a week or two before i get around to watching anyway.still a very bad call not to grandfather old members though.
7/12/2011 3:22:53 PM
I like how they are trying to justify people paying more for the exact same service.

whatever happened to good ol' piracy these days
7/12/2011 3:37:10 PM
7/12/2011 3:39:10 PM
people were spoiled by how cheap Netflix has been, $8 is a bargain for the streaming library.

Yeah, this was not a very good idea. The most common complaint seems to be that they should've provided a bundled option, rather than just adding up the cost of the two minimum plans.
7/12/2011 3:47:30 PM
switched my netflix to instant only. will use redbox for movies on DVD i suppose. seems to me that they're pushing people into redbox's hands, though i use netflix for streaming most of the time anyway. tend to keep the DVDs out a long time.

Comments on the Netflix blog are almost as hilarious as comments on GOLO.
7/12/2011 4:10:39 PM
I would think it's very plausible that they WANT to drop their DVD rental business in favor of streaming, but don't want to take that drastic of a step yet.
7/12/2011 4:11:21 PM
Margins have to be way higher on streaming for all but the heaviest users.
7/12/2011 4:13:10 PM
Netflix instant watch sucks.I once loved Netflix...now I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop it.
7/12/2011 4:14:46 PM
^^^you're probably right...they've been pushing people away from the dvd option for a while now.[Edited on July 12, 2011 at 4:15 PM. Reason : ^]
7/12/2011 4:15:32 PM
Streaming is going to get significantly more expensive over the next several years as the studios renegotiate their licensing fees.
7/12/2011 4:16:12 PM
I sure hope my boyfriend's Mom doesn't cancel.

im glad i live in the dark ages and just pirate all my stuff
7/12/2011 4:29:02 PM
Pirating is stealing, buddy. You wouldn't steal a DVD, would you?
7/12/2011 4:30:47 PM
Jeepin4x4 is the biggest thief I know.
7/12/2011 4:31:48 PM
haha, when I had netflix, I'd just rip all of the dvd's to an external hard drive, return them and repeat. LP78 killed that hard drive though. Karma is a bitch I guess.
7/12/2011 4:32:38 PM
Am I the only person that likes watching stuff in glorious 1080p?
7/12/2011 4:37:36 PM
I really don't care much about the price difference. We still want dvd's occasionally, and it's not like we'll notice the extra $4 missing each month.
7/12/2011 4:46:22 PM
Sorry, some of us don't wipe our ass with 20's
7/12/2011 4:47:22 PM
7/12/2011 5:03:22 PM
i'll keep discs if this gets rid of the blu-ray fee
7/12/2011 5:04:58 PM
We don't have netflix, but was thinking about getting it sometime soon. Guess we'll just stick with redbox for new movies. At $1/rental we would have to watch 8 movies every month to make netflix equal out and I can tell you that won't happen. Typically only watch 2-3 dvds a month.
7/12/2011 5:25:08 PM
Western Netflix < Eastern NetflixBut yeah, I'm scaling back to streaming only as well.
7/12/2011 6:16:04 PM
7/12/2011 6:18:08 PM
7/12/2011 6:18:55 PM
I've been on streaming only ever since they created the first separation. I am happy with what I have.
7/12/2011 6:19:28 PM
yeah im goin to instant only
7/12/2011 6:38:13 PM
Guess I'll be canceling the streaming part (which I don't use anyway).Slow DSL service + no laptop + crappy CRT monitor on computer==no reason to stream anything.
