i don't bite my fingernails nearly as much as i used toi bit my toenails more, though
7/13/2011 9:08:47 AM
I was biting my nails as I came across this thread.
7/13/2011 9:11:42 AM
I stopped for a long time but recently did it out of stress... It was the first time my nails hurt or bled in about a year (besides an occasional nail breaking that I actually didn't cause)Time to break out the disgusting nail polish

7/13/2011 9:20:10 AM
use nail clippers insteadthat's my advice
7/13/2011 9:20:54 AM
I peel my nails when I get bored or stressed. I recently used a nail clipper on them and now they feel weird.
7/13/2011 9:23:01 AM
That's bad advice for me... I have sat at the sink for over an hour clipping anything and everything I could on my nails, or the skin around them
7/13/2011 9:24:38 AM
i recommend stopping when you have reached an optimal nail length
7/13/2011 9:31:28 AM
It's pretty rare that I have optimal nail length [Edited on July 13, 2011 at 9:33 AM. Reason : .]
7/13/2011 9:32:58 AM
maybe let them grow for a while
7/13/2011 9:35:56 AM
Dur... Easier said than doneOnce I stopped biting them, I realized I had a problem with constantly picking themSo now I have to work on that :/
7/13/2011 9:37:48 AM
perhaps mittens would help
7/13/2011 9:39:01 AM
aww, mittens is such a cute word.
7/13/2011 9:40:08 AM
if only these cupcake mittens came in larger sizeshttp://www.amazon.com/Zooni-Sweet-Mittens-Size-Months/dp/B004KZ2KUO
7/13/2011 9:43:35 AM
Hahaha aha I really love those.. I have pretty small hands
7/13/2011 9:45:04 AM
I'm glad I have dealt with stress in other ways...like cookies, sex, and alcohol
7/13/2011 10:13:19 AM
I used to be a really bad nail biter. I still nibble on them but not nearly as much.
7/13/2011 10:23:35 AM
I used to bite my nails but then one day in 1st or 2nd grade some kid told me that I'd get a bubble on my butt from biting my nailsso I quit
7/13/2011 10:37:41 AM
Maybe that's why I have a big butt
7/13/2011 10:39:38 AM
supposedly Mike got a bubble on his butt from biting his nails and that's why everyone called him bubble butt
7/13/2011 10:45:08 AM
I've bitten my nails for YEARS.. and I probably always will... yea.. I know it's gross, but it's a habit.
7/13/2011 10:56:49 AM
feels good man
7/13/2011 10:57:22 AM
i have a questionwhat do fingernails taste like?
7/13/2011 10:58:47 AM
depends on how much shit is embedded in said nail. Yesterday, I bit down on a nail that was especially feculent. [Edited on July 13, 2011 at 11:06 AM. Reason : .]

What causes people to do this disguisting stress habit. Slight mental disorder?
7/13/2011 11:09:59 AM
7/13/2011 11:10:50 AM
Frat boy looking down on other people well i never
7/13/2011 11:11:54 AM
For me it's boredom.
7/13/2011 11:13:03 AM
ewnails gross me out... especially seeing/finding/stepping on someone's nail clippings
7/13/2011 11:15:20 AM
^^^how's that looking down. It was an honest question.
7/13/2011 11:22:25 AM
I find this quite gross too. Once in a while I will bite a cuticle if it is really bothering me but then I always feel so icky afterward.
7/13/2011 11:25:14 AM
I had a coworker who would sit next to me and audibly nibble on his fingers in meetings. Sounded like a squirrel eating nuts. That was kinda gross.
7/13/2011 11:30:26 AM
I once bit my nailsnow I pick at them when they're getting cracked or weakened, and I then file away the rough edges
7/13/2011 11:36:16 AM
ayo gurlill bite yo toenails
7/13/2011 11:37:33 AM
Whats worse, nail biting or nose picking? Also which do you think is more prevalent? Just curious. IMO Nail biting + nose picking ft
7/13/2011 11:38:14 AM
I bite my nails but it has a purpose(sorta). I have kept the nails beyond the quick so long that the first 1/4" of the top of my fingers are calloused skin, not nails. I do this because I play guitar like a piano (vertical depression of the strings, rather than laying them down) and if I have regular length nails the strings get caught UNDER the nail, so I bite them back...some of you are prolly like, "you could still use clippers" - I feel like I can get my nails shorter without drawing blood using my teeth...clippers are blunt instruments by comparison...I also only bite my nails right after a shower when they are soft and clean...it isn't a nervous habit.

^^ A girl I went to high school with never used clippers and swore she only bit her nails because she did a better job with her teeth.

7/13/2011 12:05:10 PM
i still bite my nails, not as often though, i got accustomed to biting them all the time and the constant short length, it seriously irritates me to have any length on themwhen i wore gloves everyday for a year i didnt bite my nails and kinda broke my habit, but then when i took off the gloves i started carrying clippers on my key chain, that helped too but now i'm about half and half between biting and clipping
7/13/2011 12:40:42 PM
I was the worst nail biter ever until I was like 28. Pain every day, most days I would tear at least one far enough back that it would bleed. If I could separate the layers I would strip off the top layer all the way back to the cuticle. Then I just stopped. I've maybe bitten them three times since then. I have no idea why I did that shit to myself.
