I have been dying slowly on the inside the past 3 days - it's the little things like seeing how they use right-click to do copy/paste and not knowing how to wrap text in an excel spreadsheet...oh and smacking their gum, that also...

I agree with the OP

Yesssssssssssssssssss While 75% of new employees I would train were fine, it was the 25% that made me want to bash my head into a wall. So many ridiculous questions.

the 25% ask more questions and come up with more insane problems than the 75% usually too

I have enough problems dealing with the people who already work here. My boss types 18 words a minute.
7/14/2011 10:23:14 AM
I don't mind the questions as much - I also hate that I have to sit with them and I've blocked off an hour to give a general overview on say 10 things and do a couple of examples and we only get through half of it because they have 900 windows minimized and takes 5 minutes to find the excel sheet we were looking at after going to a browser to look at online data...

my problem arises when they call me across the office to stop what i'm doing to help them right then. which i do, then turn around get back to my office and immediately get called back over

Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to explain a nuclear reactor, which I am not. Please hear me out. The 25% that makes things hard make things hard for everyone in the room, that is spot on. And yes, once you get out of your office it's like you're in the wild with a bunch of wolves. I've had people ask me stuff on the spot and then admit they've had the issue for a week or two. When I walk over I never know if it's some "hey I saw you loose in the jungle" question or something they should have asked me days ago.

Who would HIRE someone that doesn't know how to copy/paste or wrap text in Excel??? That person should be fired.
7/14/2011 11:28:28 AM
I just learned how to wrap text last week. But I make up for it in other ways.
7/14/2011 11:29:39 AM
hey, whats so wrong with right clicking
7/14/2011 11:32:20 AM
everything
7/14/2011 11:42:29 AM
i right click all the timefuck the control key
7/14/2011 11:43:50 AM
What's worse is when they go up to edit>copy/paste instead of right clicking or ctrl+c.
7/14/2011 11:55:12 AM
I do both.DEAL WITH IT
7/14/2011 11:57:04 AM
I REFUSE TO DEAL WITH IT

I like training employees - it helps me to exert my dominance early on so they know not to fuck with this
