We play ball on a 9 foot goal and I got a bit carried away with one of my patented power dunks. The pain isn't too bad, I'm just worried about the white shit inside. Worth a doctor visit, or will it heal decently on its own?[Edited on July 14, 2011 at 7:27 PM. Reason : kinda stings, but nothing too bad]

woah dudeI'm not gay or anything.... but for real.... nice dick.
7/14/2011 7:27:38 PM
what body part am i looking at?
7/14/2011 7:27:52 PM
Does it look like it needs stitches? I can't tell from the photo
7/14/2011 7:28:26 PM
can't really tell how deep it is, but it might need a couple of stitches
7/14/2011 7:28:28 PM
That would be my left shin.
7/14/2011 7:28:35 PM
you need stitches, only a couple, and they need to flush it out to make sure it doesnt get infected, small stuff like this use to kill people before we had antibiotics, go get antibiotics silly headof course it could heal fine on its own, but dont take that chance
7/14/2011 7:28:48 PM
im tryin to figure out whats goin oncan you get a clearer pic?
7/14/2011 7:29:09 PM
ehhh that white stuff is fatty tissuei'd get you some stitches[Edited on July 14, 2011 at 7:30 PM. Reason : eh]
7/14/2011 7:29:48 PM

7/14/2011 7:30:59 PM
white stuff. where do you see white stuff??i need my eyes checked or something
7/14/2011 7:31:10 PM
yeah itd be nice to have a clearer pic of the gash.. it looks pretty bad
7/14/2011 7:31:32 PM
well really its white stuff covered with bloodinside the cutand if that doesn't hurt too bad it means it went down past the nerveswhich means you should get you some stitches
7/14/2011 7:32:00 PM
zoomed out pic for context
7/14/2011 7:32:28 PM
wait. so youre assuming its fat?whew. i for real was like but i bet you'll be fine. [Edited on July 14, 2011 at 7:34 PM. Reason : I AM NOT A DOCTOR (yet)]
7/14/2011 7:33:22 PM
yep stitches
7/14/2011 7:34:16 PM
ya think?i had one at 14 that im pretty sure was deeper than that and it healed fine without them.i have a scar though so if that's a concern then yes-stictches.
7/14/2011 7:35:12 PM
meh flushing it out and then doing a butterfly bandaid you'd probably be fine, but Im always getting hurt and would rather not go to the doctors
7/14/2011 7:35:29 PM
What caused it?? You might also need a tetanus shot.
7/14/2011 7:36:26 PM
Cool thanks just wanted to make sure it wasn't too bad. I've lived a pretty sheltered life thus far.[Edited on July 14, 2011 at 7:37 PM. Reason : metal rim...i swung up after I dunked like a mad man]
7/14/2011 7:36:34 PM
just go to an urgent care, you dont need to go to the ER or anything, although go soon, i think the time limit on stitches is like 6 hours or something
7/14/2011 7:36:53 PM
for real go to the doctor. don't risk it getting infected. don't you have insurance? itll be like $60
7/14/2011 7:37:08 PM
I have insurance but I'm also lazy, so I thought it could wait till tomorrow
7/14/2011 7:38:00 PM
stop whining!
7/14/2011 7:38:24 PM
metal rim of a basketball hoop that sits out in the rain? go you get a tetanus shot, boo.
7/14/2011 7:39:18 PM
If you get stitches for that you're a goddamn pussy
7/14/2011 7:40:52 PM
You'll probably be fine, just put something over it so it doesn't get infected.
7/14/2011 8:48:55 PM
those super sticky strips they use for minor wounds to pull it together, then the paint on bandage stuff. after, of course, you get it properly cleaned up.

cauterize with a hot iron poker from the fireplacecost-effectiveness ITT
7/14/2011 9:05:13 PM
shave your legs too, so they look sexier it doesn't hurt to pull off the bandaid
7/14/2011 9:05:51 PM
Meh, I stubbed my big toe on a pane of glass when I was in middle school. Split the toe down to the bone. I was too embarrassed to tell my parents what happened so I kept it wrapped in gauze for a couple weeks and it healed alright
7/14/2011 9:09:48 PM
And stop playing basketball. You're white. Know your limitations!
7/14/2011 9:13:07 PM
Ha, 3 stitches. Doctor asked me if I wanted to see my tibia, I said sure, so she peeled the skin back and let me have a look. I only started to get queasy when she started plucking chunks of fat out to make room for the sutures.

vitamin E helps prevent scaring
7/14/2011 9:49:39 PM
I was going to recommend super glue (for real, it works - I did it on my thumb a few days ago) but it sounds like you got stitches, so... feel better!
7/14/2011 9:51:28 PM
put some ice on it
7/14/2011 9:51:43 PM
