You people don't need to be recognized for your faggotry. If you are a talented actor than so be it.

This should be moved to Entertainment. Circumstance looks really interesting. My take on the GLFF: Gay films, much like Christian films and, to a lesser extent these days, black films, are by and large terrible. The ghettoization of gay cinema (i.e. the public perception that a movie is either "gay" or "regular", "regular" meaning white heteronormative blah blah blah) leads to small successes for gay films due to their niche appeal despite a lack of actual quality filmmaking. This is more a product of economics than anything, but what it pans out to is that most of the stuff at genre/niche festivals like this (I realize it's kind of stupid to refer to something targeting 10% of the US as "niche", but, you know, whatever) is below average cinema that panders to its audience like crazy. Please don't read this as a condemnation of all gay films or gay cinema as a whole. It's like science fiction novels. Not that many people are into sci-fi, but there's still more than enough audience to devote a few aisles to it at Barnes and Noble. Do you ever read that shit? Holy fuck, it's terrible. I love reading science fiction, but the standards for "good" sci-fi/fantasy are low as hell. I love Isaac Asimov to death. He had, to me, some of the most interesting ideas and stories I've ever read. His actual writing is TERRIBLE. And yet I own and have read a solid 20 pounds of books about robot detectives in the future. There's still amazingly written sci-fi. Oryx and Crake? Are you fucking kidding me? That shit completely changed my view of the world. But still, I read the average stuff too, because I just gotta have it.That being said, I used to work at the Carolina and working the NCGLFF is probably the most fun I've ever had at work in my life. Made a shitload in tips, too (if you know what I mean).]

The new run lola run came out of this bs a few years ago. It sucked HARD. I doubt there is little worth watching herr and if there is something standout they would have already taken it to a real film festival.

is this the kind of festival that I can submit short films or no?cause if it is, I'm totally going to make a gay short and submit it for 2012.i'm currently a bit addicted to the film fest circuit after my short got into two so far.[Edited on July 19, 2011 at 4:39 AM. Reason : .]
