Holy carp I remember reading those books

why? so kids can have yet another adulterated version of a popular book? IS READING REALLY THAT HARD?!

Your idea is absolutely terrible, and you suck for coming up with it.

The pictures in these books always freaked me out. They could do a movie with several of the stories much like they did with Creep Show back in the day.

^Yeah, that book was awesome too.

Those stories were 10x scarier than any horror movie today. The one about the kid who's parents turned into dummies still haunts me to this day.

my favorite was the one about the girl who wore the scarf around her neck at all times

I remember doing a book report on that one

I'm jealous. I was naive enough to think grade school mattered, so I did mine on shit like Robinson Crusoe and The Secret Garden.

i forgot all about scary stories till I saw that pic...Instantly I remembered the creeps I got when I read the one about the chick with the spiders coming out of her face.still weirds me out and, looking back, is likely why i'll come close to shitting myself if i think i have a spider on me.

I would watch a cartoon with nothing but Steve Gammell's illustrating. The pics were probably 80% of the scare.

You're certainly on the right track about that. I don't remember many of the stories but damn if I don't remember the creepy as hell illustrations.
