i've done it, if you take out like two pieces it doesn't take long to thaw, and isn't different or anythingbut i only do it if there is a bread product on sale, or a BOGO offeri save them nickels

Because I eat bread so rarely I throw it in the fridge.It then tastes like things in the fridge, but this is alleviated by toasting the bread. I am the worst kind of bachelor.Also, when I leave bread out on the counter it seems to spoil within a week, and since I don't really like cooking/preparing food ever I kind of need my bread to last a bit longer (like, say, through the apocalypse).

I do it if it's bread I only eat occasionally. Like hot dog buns.I'll buy a pack of hot dogs and a pack of buns, eat 2 hot dogs, and by the time I want to eat a couple more like a week later my buns are either stale or molded.

Freezing it -> bad.Refrigerating extends lifespan without affecting chemistry -> good[Edited on July 31, 2011 at 2:06 PM. Reason : .]

^ why is it bad? bad in what sense?i bet if i took a slice out of the fridge and one out of the freezer, let them come to room temperature, and made identical sandwiches out of each one (1-slice sandwich), you wouldn't be able to tell which is which. and that's even more true if i toast them both.and btw, any environmental change affects food chemistry.

because Papa John said so

My mom does it, and I would too if I stockpiled bread. Since I don't stockpile bread, I don't freeze what I do buy.
