got a durn letter today from the IRS saying that they cant give me my first time home buyer tax credit from 2008... thing has been paid and spent and now they are telling me they want it back???i suppose they have "outside offices" reviewing home buyers credits to look for ways to get it back. the guy at the IRS couldn't even tell me why they denied it.I closed on my construction loan pre-april 2008. Closed on the home itself Feb 2009. I'm eligible so back off my junk.

I am afraid I will have to side with Mr. President. Give him his money, you have 24hrs.
8/1/2011 9:22:42 PM
all politicians are crooks and liars
8/1/2011 9:23:01 PM
AND they want $900 in interest...LOL
8/1/2011 9:36:22 PM
Shit you think that loan was interest free dawg? This does seem like some bullshit. Refuse to pay and see how it turns out. I would recommend burning something down as a statement.

8/2/2011 12:13:31 AM
Obama sent me a letter saying he wanted to repo my Civic even though I paid cash for it. He said Cash 4 Clunkers was a ruse and he and Michele have been enjoying my e30 and I was a sucker for thinking they would send it to the crusher.
8/2/2011 12:16:49 AM
You mean the Republicans want your money back.
8/2/2011 1:34:22 AM
Politicains are like diapers. Their full of shit and need to be changed offten
8/2/2011 1:39:01 AM
Are you seriously upset over not getting your free money for not doing a god damn thing? Really? So why should I, a tax payer, help finance your first home? Who fucking cares if it is your first home? You may be "eligible" for the money, but entitled to it? No. Fuck you.
8/2/2011 1:46:26 AM
well maybe the government should stop funding nice apartments or some shit like I tried to look at today. IF YOU MAKE OVER 32K, YOU CAN'T LIVE HERE BECAUSE WE HAVE A DEAL WITH THE GOVERNMENT, AND THIS IS A NICE PLACE. fuck that. that is bullshit.
8/2/2011 1:51:44 AM
^ Agreed.
8/2/2011 1:54:19 AM
Have you moved or no longer use the house as your primary residence? We bought our house under this tax credit and were told we had to stay here at least three years.
8/2/2011 5:26:05 AM
If this is true, how about asking for welfare checks back too.
8/2/2011 6:25:48 AM
^^ no still here. This "outside office" that is looking at these things obviously looked at when I bought my lot. ^^^^^ I'm not upset that im not getting it. It's a done deal an has been for 2 years. It didn't persuade me to build my house. It just so happened that I was able to receive it. I guess if you would have been able to receive it that you would have asked the government to keep it and make sure it went to welfare??? You are such a great person!
8/2/2011 8:51:07 AM
really, no one is entitled to pay for your house but you. it amazes me how many right leaning people were willing to take up "free money" and then still bitch and moan about other social programs.all that aside, i really don't believe you. if you wouldn't mind scanning the letter, without name and pertinent info of course, then posting it that would help.i feel that if you got this letter then these types of letters would be more widespread and as such there would be a lot of national news on it. since there isn't, i'm basically calling you a liar.
8/2/2011 8:58:54 AM
N*GGA STOLE MY BIKE
8/2/2011 9:04:00 AM
8/2/2011 9:31:32 AM
I don't see how they could ask for the money back plus interest unless you didn't qualify and shoulda known you didn't qualify.^Yeah, but they can't promote it as subsidized housing. So you have to go there and check it out, and then they're like, "Sorry, you don't qualify."And I know of one place that sat empty for a long time.
8/2/2011 11:11:40 AM
^^^^ I support "social programs" but think that they enable some to just sit around all day and smoke crack. If you don't believe this happens (and happens a lot) then you are free to come sit on my front porch and watch it happen. And also, how many cases do you think there were of someone buying a lot, closing a construction loan, and then closing a permanent mortgage??? Probably not many.^From what I have gathered it appears the "outside office" looked at the construction loan closing date rather than the home closing date. I have a pretty straight edge accountant and he believes they are wrong.

whats next, a civil right to own a car, a home, etc...
8/3/2011 12:57:45 PM
Okay, since nobody said anything, I will share that it is kinda funny that ctnz71 built a house in a neighborhood where you can supposedly sit on the porch and watch people sit around all day and smoke crack. Not the best location for new homebuilders...
8/3/2011 2:14:41 PM
call your representative and the Taxpayers' Advocate services ASAP. They tried to fuck me over on mine, saying I had "claimed mortgage interest" on my tax return so I was disqualified, except that I didn't claim any interest in the year they said I did. They are just fucking with you, expecting that you will fold.
8/3/2011 2:17:38 PM
Nice advice!I'm glad I btttd this!
8/3/2011 2:19:53 PM
^^^ you can see people smoking crack anywhere downtown. its turning in to an awesome neighborhood. the house beside me just sold for 220k and its 1000 sqft. im building a 2000 sqft house on the other side of me. she is all in for 319k. a new 1500 sqft home being built 80 yards from here is under contract for $315k. 12 other renovated homes have sold for between $180k(700 sqft) to 250k (1200 sqft) in the last year and a half. i think ill be fine... to update the thread topic. i received a billing summary in the mail (keep in mind that I just caught wind of this 10 days ago) letting me know what I owe them.Tax Credit $8000Increase in failure-to-pay penalty $813.37 Increase in Interest $749.75 I appealed it and hoping my settlement statement will clear it up but if it doesn't should i talk to a lawyer about getting the accountant to help foot the bill (at least for the interest BS)This may be on its way to the lounge...
8/11/2011 10:38:17 PM
Damn what neighborhood is that?
8/11/2011 10:42:13 PM
Hey ctnz71How much do you hate black people
8/11/2011 10:46:50 PM
yeah, their interest rules are bullshit. they strung me along for a year and a half and guess how much interest they paid me for that? 43 bux. absolute bullshit.but then again, take out the space in "The IRS" and you get "THEIRS". that's all you need to know[Edited on August 11, 2011 at 10:49 PM. lenoir and south saunders^^ enough to move all the poor ones out of this neighborhood and make me rich? i like the mexicans though. they work for cheap. [Edited on August 11, 2011 at 10:49 PM. Reason : ernie has internet hate for me]
8/11/2011 10:47:16 PM
Oh lol we thought about buying the blue house down there. But the business directly behind it attracts a lot of police activity so we passed.
8/11/2011 10:49:36 PM
^I too want to know.
8/11/2011 10:51:11 PM
you mean clancy and theys, the Volkswagen restoration place, or the small random car repair joint that the dudes daughter got caught cooking meth in that is no longer there? i agree that it was a total risk when i chose to live here because there was a lot more bad than good. now there is a lot more good than bad so i guess it paid off. [Edited on August 11, 2011 at 10:54 PM. Reason : .]
8/11/2011 10:53:05 PM
Yeah that place. Apparently it's a breeding ground for assaults and drug deals now according to the crime reports for the area. Don't need that spilling into my backyard
8/11/2011 10:55:31 PM
all of the assaults that ive seen are homeless people fighting. no homeowners have been assaulted or even threatened here.drug dealers are down here but the police are steady on it and they know not to do their business where these new homes are. they also keep to themselves.
8/11/2011 11:01:09 PM
maybe it's just me, but if I pay $300k for a house, I would like to be as far away from crime as possible.
8/11/2011 11:02:23 PM
The RPD says otherwise. They may not be shooting each other in front of that house, they're just doing it behind the house. And I don't think wooden fences are great at stopping bullets.Really they need to clean up that commercial street. It would go a long way in getting rid of the crime element in that area.
8/11/2011 11:06:40 PM
