Oh damn.I was just talking a few days ago with someone about want to go to Reno, Oshkosh, and Sun & Fun.
9/16/2011 8:41:16 PM
^^^how have I never seen that... or even heard about it.
9/16/2011 8:44:35 PM
Holy shit
9/16/2011 8:44:44 PM
^^There was a huge coverup, they lied about how many were killed(some say it was more than 100). The race continued as if nothing happened. I especially liked how they used the NASCAR-style corporate banner ads to cover the bodies.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFoaFRG1rqo&feature=related[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 8:50 PM. Here's another reason not to go to airshows.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATahHZ-r26I&NR=1
9/16/2011 8:54:30 PM
I've basically concluded that nothing good ever comes of an air show.
9/16/2011 9:00:14 PM
Lies. Airshows rule.
9/16/2011 9:04:02 PM
^^ yea, I was kind of into them when I was 12, but even then it was getting boring. Cant imagine being at one now.
9/16/2011 9:05:05 PM
How many air shows are there? Because I've seen like 50 air show crash videos.
9/16/2011 9:23:20 PM
hahaha, yeah, shit happens at something like 30% of them, its nuts
9/16/2011 9:24:50 PM
I remember a couple weeks ago on the radio some guys were talking about that airshows need to be done away with this might be the one that makes that happen
9/16/2011 9:25:11 PM
Yup, it hit right in the VIP area. At least 75 casualties. I bet they paid lots of money to sit in that spot and die.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTzX35wOGas
9/16/2011 9:26:40 PM
^^^ I couldn't even tell you how many airshows I've been to, and I've yet to ever see anything.Does shit happen? Of course. Aviation is dangerous by nature. Flying aerobatics, close formation, etc is especially dangerous. There is no fucking way that there are incidents at anywhere near 30% of airshows, though.[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 9:27 PM. Reason : ^^^]
9/16/2011 9:27:32 PM
i've really enjoyed the airshows that i've gone to - it sucks that this happened, but seriously, are we going to ban everything that could have risks?or is it just things that have risks to spectators. well there goes nascar - cause what if a piece of a car flies into the stands. and what if while watching basketball, a player comes crashing into the stands and you hit your head and die. maybe that should be banned too.how about people take on the fucking responsibility and risk of going to this kind of event and if something happens, then something happens. lordy people are the on the "ban shit" bandwagon lately.
9/16/2011 9:29:57 PM
hahah, I got that number for the AAASAAmerican Associated Air Show Alliance
9/16/2011 9:30:04 PM
welp, better ban all air-travel, per smc's stance on nuclear energy. if anything ever goes wrong, it better be shut down. so much for getting across the country easily
9/16/2011 9:32:29 PM
^^^^ The liveleak full version of that video is crazy. It is basically dozens of dismembered bodies scattered across an airfield.
9/16/2011 9:33:02 PM
The chick that was in the F-16 sent to shoot down United Flight 93 was the guest of honor. If she ate it here air shows WILL be banned.
9/16/2011 9:33:12 PM
^^^ you make a valid point good sir.and actually, aren't you more likely to die while driving your car than flying? maybe driving should be banned too. ]
9/16/2011 9:33:14 PM
9/16/2011 9:33:21 PM
^^ that stat is stupid, always has been
9/16/2011 9:34:16 PM
why is it stupid? is it not statistically accurate?
9/16/2011 9:36:08 PM
because there are things you can do some of the times to avoid wrecks/injuries/death in a car... in a plane, you are fucked. Its like saying you are more likely to choke to death than die via a gunshot... its true, but I would gladly take my chances on choking to death over a bullet. And that stat is usually quoted as "more likely to be in a car wreck than a plane wreck" which is really dumb. So are crashes at air shows very common? They had one in Reno this same time last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0IhgMkN3wA[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 9:44 PM. Reason : My bad. Topic already mentioned.]

Let's see that stat backed up. Link, please. Until then, I maintain that you're being a moron.
9/16/2011 9:46:54 PM
So many people are saying "this show will be banned".Why oh why are people so stupid?!?!!?they didn't ban NASCAR when the legendary dale died?!crashes and death are a fact of life people.this is what attracts people!!!! living on the edge!!!
9/16/2011 9:46:57 PM
9/16/2011 9:47:55 PM
Lets say you do get shot... What are the odds you die? Get seriously injured and disabled? Or just get scratched? (tis just a flesh wound)Now lets say you start choking... We all have choked on something to some degree at some point. What are the odds that it kills you? Deprives you from oxygen long enough to become a vegetable? Or you live but somebody breaks a couple ribs giving you the heimlich?[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 9:52 PM. Reason : the point i'm trying to make is you have no control over the initial circumstance.]
9/16/2011 9:48:25 PM
^^^yep, and this is a big step beyond an airshow, even. It's a race. Not only that, it's like the Superbowl of air racing.[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 9:51 PM. Reason : ]
9/16/2011 9:48:32 PM
^I was wondering that, too...so I'm glad you clarified.[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 9:50 PM. Reason : I didn't even know they did races in the air.]
9/16/2011 9:49:35 PM
all I'm saying is I am a damn good driver, and have avoided a couple of wrecks in my life by channeling some Richard Petty shit, but I get nervous as fuck on a plane because I have to hope the pilot didn't sip some Hennessy during the layover or that Paco tightened the bolts enough earlier[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 9:53 PM. I dont know about everyone... but I have literally avoided several wrecks through evasive maneuvers and Tokyo drift
9/16/2011 9:58:10 PM
^^^^yeah. not as common as it was back in the early days of aviation, prob. Reno is the air racing Superbowl, World Cup, World Series, etc all rolled into one.
9/16/2011 9:58:51 PM
the near-accident situations you are describing are the times you choke and cough the shit outit isn't always that easy[Edited on September 16, 2011 at 10:02 PM. Reason : and oh god, here we go with the chit-chat]
