I keep wanting to get a 1911 this year . . . but then I realize I have no use for one and I'm working really hard at getting rid of that which I do not need.

There's a thread for this

da 1911 needs double action and a staggered magazine
10/30/2011 8:15:19 AM
Divababy is all about that skeet shooting.

^^ DAO sucks balls...oh my God I fucking hate it. The only DAO pistol I've ever owned is a Kel-Tec P3AT, and then only because there is nothing in that class except DA (except the little SA SIG...but I'm uneasy carrying cocked & locked SA. For a carry gun, I like DA/SA).They make double-stacked 1911s. It's not as slim of a pistol, which a lot of people don't like, but if you want a hi-cap 1911, the option is there.

I think that's maybe being a little unfair to it. It's great in terms of being fun to shoot. Lots of guys have great success with them as race guns, too.No, I would not choose a 1911 as a tactical carry gun. It might be underreliable compared to, say, a SIG, and it might not hold as many rounds, but I wouldn't necessarily say that they're overpriced.

There's just something about the feel of the 1911. It just feels right in your hand. It may not have the tactical look of the Springfield XD handguns, but it is a classic. I'd say the same about the Beretta 92FS.
11/7/2011 2:09:39 AM
I like the Beretta/Taurus 92FS, but I can't shoot them worth a damn
11/7/2011 3:22:21 AM
I've got the Taurus version. It was the first handgun I bought and I've just held onto it. It's a step above the other Taurus weapons I've fired although I've admittedly only had my hands on a few of them. Not a bad choice IMO considering the history between Taurus and Beretta.
