Drop a Benjamin on a bottle of Balvenie 15 or Glenlivet 15, and then drop $20 on the cheap bourbons listed in this thread. start off with the scotch and then switch to the bourbon after the first drink.

id never had the crown royal reserve until i received it as a gift. thought that was good.I'm more of a scotch guy really so my whiskey knowledge is somewhat limited. The Elijah 12 is pretty good if you're looking for a budget/bulk buy.

So I'm trying to figure out what liquors to bring for my birthday weekend at the beach. I'm going to hit up the PA liquor store after work but I'm pretty n00b like when it comes to stuff like brand names etc. I like rum so if anyone has any suggestions on good rum you like, I'll look for it to buy. Also what are some good tequilas?

Blanton's if $ doesn't matterMakers if it kinda doesn't matterAnd Evan if it matters
6/21/2012 4:18:15 PM
Maker's 46
6/21/2012 4:19:10 PM
Woodford Reserve
6/21/2012 4:19:29 PM
I dont know if I really like whiskey, also I'm looking for things that mix well into drinks, like coke. I'm guessing I can fill some coke bottles up with coke and rum for the beach cooler. It's just me drinking, no one else I have to worry about (other than getting caught with alcohol on a public beach which I'm guessing might be illegal in NJ, I dont know)
6/21/2012 4:20:02 PM
look butthead, you're in a whiskey thread
6/21/2012 4:22:44 PM
get Woodford Reserve, if you insist on mixing it of course goes good with Coke. for a beach type setting definitely get a bottle of Firefly, goes good with shit you will probably have around anyways (lemonade, sweet tea, etc.), a bottle of normal vodka, and for shots a bottle of Kraken rum which you will hate but then grow to love like an abusive uncle who also happens to buy you badass Christmas presents each year
6/21/2012 4:23:41 PM
^thanks!I really wish they had samples at the liquor store so that people could try it and decide if they like it
6/21/2012 4:27:19 PM
you are almost 30 and dont know if you like bourbon yet or not? then chances are you wont like it.
6/21/2012 4:28:45 PM
Firefly Lemonade Vodka is really good, it's like 60 proof and you really don't need to mix it with anything. it's funny...i have trouble finding it in liquor stores around charlotte, but they had cases of it at a grocery store in the US Virgin Islands
6/21/2012 4:28:54 PM
respect the kraken
6/21/2012 4:30:09 PM
I looked it up online for my nearest liquor store and it says it has ten units of the Firefly Sweet Tea Bourbon and 4 units of the Firefly Raspberry Tea Vodka 70 Proof both sound really goodthey also have 8 units of Kraken Spiced Rumis that what you're talking about/like? I'll definitely get it then[Edited on June 21, 2012 at 4:34 PM. Reason : ]
6/21/2012 4:32:35 PM
I just prefer normal sweet tea vodka and mix it with lemonade, half and half of each, tastes great.and Kraken rum, yes. it has a very very strong taste even though its not super strong alcohol wise, but you will love it if you just chug through the first few shots
