To answer the question on how fast the ISS travels... it takes about 90 mins for it to orbit the earth once so that's about 5 miles/second.

I want a live wallpaper for my laptop that will show thermal conduction effects of the surface of the sun. This is modeled in some games pretty well, Galactic Civilizations II, and some other things have it as well. This as a SS would also be nice.

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/SSapplications/Post/JavaSSOP/JavaSSOP.htmlWeb Based ISS visible sighting prediction(this used to be J-PASS at the johnson space flight center site, but it's deprecated)http://www.stoff.pl/Excellent software that can track hundreds of objects and predict visible passes. Yes it's 6 years old, but it pulls the most recent data from NASA every couple days. I've used it to see probably 30-40 passes.
