the kid is going to have to get over his separation anxiety eventually.

why should this kid get special treatment?
11/17/2011 8:32:41 PM
did you seriously just ask why a child with special needs should get special treatment? i'm going to pretend i didn't read that and you really aren't that stupid.

this thing is from like january. why is this suddenly relevant now?
11/17/2011 9:23:33 PM
I don't blame the principal, I blame the other parents.I deal with and see this shit on a daily basis. My son goes to a special needs Pre-K at a public school. The Pre-K parents have special parking tags to park in a particular lot to walk their child to a locked door where they are met by a teacher to let them in. The elementary and middle school students are supposed to go through carpool and go in through the main entrance of the school. Multiple letters have gone home about this and its even why parking tags had to be issued. The other parents are always parking in our spots, marching their kids to the locked door, and banging to have someone let their kid in. Then they become enraged when they're informed that their 10 year old has to go in through the main entrance with the other students. Some parents are down right rude about it. It doesn't matter how many times they're notified of drop off procedures, their grown ass kid shouldn't have to follow the rules. That poor principal was probably harassed to death by rude ass parents who were pissed off that they couldn't walk their kid to class. If they can do it, I should be able to do it. Fuck that! I'll do whatever I want.
11/17/2011 9:26:24 PM
I don't get why they don't stand up to the parents. call them out for being stupid.what are they going to do, take their "business" elsewhere?
11/17/2011 9:28:35 PM
teachers will get fired and or sued.
11/17/2011 9:29:15 PM
"it's not fair that i have to wait in the carpool line with my typical children who can feed themselves & wipe their own butts! i want special treatment! rawr rawr rawr!!!!!"
11/17/2011 9:32:34 PM
i mean the principals. if the parents are too vapid to follow the rules, they need to be told what the fuck is up.

One principal vs. 800+ sets of parents? If that principal tried to tell that many parents what was up, he probably won't be there very long. If you think otherwise then you obviously don't understand school politics.
11/17/2011 9:35:49 PM
bottombaby, you should not be afraid to tell those parents what's up. i know a lot of parents probably are not comfortable speaking out in regards to their special needs children, but a lot are, and they should.
11/17/2011 9:37:34 PM
^^I don't understand school politics. How can a bunch of busybody parents oust a principal enforcing established rules?this is why i'm not sending my kid(s) to public schools. fucking worthless.
11/17/2011 9:39:17 PM
This thread especially hits home today because we had a situation today. This woman basically chewed out a teacher because she was told that her child wasn't supposed to come in through this locked door because it was for Pre-K only and that she'd have to go around to the main entrance. She was so uppity about how her child had come in through the Pre-K door before and would do it again. It really pissed me off, but I didn't want to start anything. Not only is it a school safety issue. . .locking doors and monitoring children in and out of the building, but the 3-4 year olds really don't need to be outside waiting and mingling with children who can be as old as 14 (this is a K-8 school). I don't understand parents who think that they're exceptions to the rule. I don't understand why they lack understanding. And do they really stop and think about what they're teaching their own child... Hmph.[Edited on November 17, 2011 at 9:44 PM. Reason : sp]

on the other side of things, these parents of typical children seemingly don't understand why special children get special treatment, but how does it feel to be the parent of a child who does get special treatment? always reminded of how your child is different? i read this in the blog of a family with a young child with autism recently.andi'm nervous about sending my children to public school as well. regardless of where they end up (private or public) i will be the parent from hell.[Edited on November 17, 2011 at 9:46 PM. i will be both. i have high expectations for everyone, including myself, when it comes to my children. who are nonexistent at the moment. i'm getting all worked up over this and i don't even have kids. sheesh

can't believe you just used the r-wordalso, not saying i would immediately blame the teacher, but be honest with yourself, sometimes the teacher really does suck. hopefully you'll have better options in private school.and i'm not 36, i'm 18.[Edited on November 17, 2011 at 9:53 PM. Reason : ]

if the word retarded offends you, time to grow some thicker skin.yes, there are bad teachers, but it's pretty rare to find them teaching the academically gifted kids.
11/17/2011 9:55:41 PM
^^only if you make lots of money so our kids can go to private school.^i don't think it's ok to use that word in negative/derogatory fashion and it offends me when people do. similarly, i don't think it's ok to use the f-word or n-word either. it has nothing to do with how tough i am.[Edited on November 17, 2011 at 9:57 PM. Private vs. public schooling and good vs. bad teachers is for another conversation. What happened to walking your kids to class? The short answer is a few bad crazy eggs that fuck everything else up for the rest of us.

Yeah I wish the teachers didn't have to be such pussies or whatever and could tell the parents "Look, your johnny-lil-sumbitch over there is a damn idiot, and if you weren't such a douchebag, maybe you could help him study or give him some damn discipline"

Why is this even an issue. Why is there an online petition? Get it on the kid's IEP, and if they don't put it on his IEP, get him placed in a private special ed school that isn't run by idiots.

This pisses me off to no end, but I dont think its a principal's power trip. He is just trying to make everyone happy.I do agree though that he should man up and tell the parent's of the normal kids to go fuck themselves. We are going to do my son's Make-A-Wish trip to Disney in February, and they actually had to give us literature and warn us to expect some people getting pissed off that he gets to go to the head of the line along with one of us as a caregiver for the rides. They said they have had altercations in the past where someone gets angry about "line-cutting".Give me a break. People are worthless, selfish assholes.
