I don't care how you're related to me, take the last spoon of moms sweet potato casserole and one of us has to die.
11/21/2011 7:43:14 PM
Fuck that I'll bring my own.
11/21/2011 7:43:53 PM
Green bean casserole is my absolute favorite. Squash casserole is a close second.[Edited on November 21, 2011 at 7:50 PM. Reason : squash]
11/21/2011 7:48:11 PM
Pecan Pie.
11/21/2011 7:49:53 PM
11/21/2011 7:59:45 PM
traditional is pecan pie or the sweet potato casserole but the tradition in my family is greens with pepper relish. No one really will fight me for it but I would be willing to if there were any takers.
11/21/2011 8:20:27 PM
Woah. Do I have to choose?I <3 green bean casserole, corn pudding, mashed potatoes, pecan pie...oh and stuffing too...oh lawd.
11/21/2011 8:23:29 PM
Stuffing.
11/21/2011 8:23:47 PM
There is a fast food joint in Buena Vista, Va called "Kenny's" and I always stop there and get a "sauce burger with onions, extra sauce" the day before. That's my favorite thanksgiving food.
11/21/2011 8:24:55 PM
Shit, I forgot about corn pudding
11/21/2011 8:25:33 PM
And then there is the day after Thanksgiving when you get to make a turkey & stuffing sammich from the left overs.
11/21/2011 8:27:15 PM
Yeah, I like to just put random leftovers in a bowl and mix it all up. Looks like vomit but tastes sooooo good
11/21/2011 8:30:17 PM
my family goes caserole crazy at thanksgiving, so the only thing I really enjoy is the turkey. bourbon soaked pecan pie gets an honorable mention, but I hate the extra 5 hours at the gym it takes to undo the damage of demolishing half a pie.
11/21/2011 8:51:19 PM
My favorites were 2 things that I'll never have again. My grandmothers greenbeans (I have no idea what she did to them, but I've tasted any that were like them since). The other was this homemade strawberry cake with strawberry icing that my grandma's friend used to make us every year. Will never taste it again either
11/21/2011 8:53:52 PM
There are typically 4 things on my plate. Turkey, stuffing, gravy, cauliflower with cheese melted all over it. When it's available, I'll take some brussels sprouts. By the time I'm done, there's usually not enough room left for pumpkin pie.
11/21/2011 8:55:06 PM
^^ why aren't you allowed to eat them anymore? those sound delicious!
11/21/2011 8:56:44 PM
My mom makes these banging sweet potatoes with maple syrup and other mystery ingredients, but my husband hates sweet potatoes so we don't make them for Thanksgiving
11/21/2011 9:15:40 PM
Turkey.
11/21/2011 9:15:55 PM
I don't really have a favorite thanksgiving food. I'm kind of meh about thanksgiving food.
11/21/2011 9:16:32 PM
Oh yeah and spoonbread. NOM NOM SPOONBREAD And brussel sprouts, though I eat those a lot when they're in season. And homemade cranberry sauce.Day after Thanksgiving I like making turkey, stuffing, mashed potato, cranberry sauce, lettuce, mayonnaise sammiches.
11/21/2011 9:21:19 PM
I like to make day-after-thanksgiving sandwiches with left over rolls, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, and turkey. if it's dry i add a little gravy. nom nom nom!
11/21/2011 9:33:51 PM
11/21/2011 9:52:44 PM

11/22/2011 9:32:49 AM
if i had anyone else to eat with this year, i would love to attempt an oyster casserole. however, since i don't im just making the shit i love, which is turkey, spinach greens, cranberries, jalapeno cornbread and a slice or two of pumpkin pie[Edited on November 22, 2011 at 9:45 AM. Reason : .]
11/22/2011 9:45:42 AM
I am a little sad that as I have cleaned up my diet I don't enjoy most of these foods as much as I used to Except I had some sweet potato stuff last weekend that was baller. And I am in charge of bringing sweet potatoes this year, so I will attempt to recreate it. And I also love cornbread stuffing, but probably won't have that this year.
11/22/2011 9:46:10 AM
^ I think though that it's possible to make Thanksgiving foods that are healthier and yummy. I definitely don't like shit like green bean casserole anymore now that I eat healthier but I love me some roasted brussel sprouts.
11/22/2011 9:54:46 AM
Ditto on the oysters!
11/22/2011 9:55:25 AM
I didn't say otherwise. I said most of the stuff itt is not as tasty to me now, because most of it is not the healthier types of stuff.
11/22/2011 9:57:20 AM
Turkey, stuffing, sweet potato casserole (the kind with nuts, not marsmallows:sick, pumpkin pie, man so many things. Also one of my family members makes these amazing mushrooms in the crock pot that taste like tiny super tender steaks.

Thanksgiving, the one time of year your aunt/cousin who has never made anything fresh in their entire life decides they are Top Chef.
11/22/2011 11:36:59 AM
goblet of gravy
11/22/2011 12:07:50 PM
Stewed potatoes, and green beans cooked all day in a crock pot with potatoes and fat back. Ooh, and deviled eggs! Haven't seen those on here, yet.
11/22/2011 1:20:38 PM
it's probably just me but deviled eggs seem to be more of an Easter food, not a thanksgiving food. Much like ham or coleslaw...
11/22/2011 1:24:16 PM
deviled eggs are welcome at every holiday
