12/27/2011 8:36:04 PM
So she's saying girls have to guy the pink stuff and that companies are actively trying to trick girls into wanting the princess crap. Real insightful.
12/27/2011 8:39:31 PM

I mean, I have a 5-year old daughter, and she would far rather do the kid's rock-climbing wall at the park than play with Barbie. She pretty much doesn't give a shit about dolls. At the same time, she's no tomboy...she's very much a little girl in many (most) ways. The point is, to the extent that she ventures outside of gender stereotypes, and to the extent that I encourage it, nobody's (a) being douchey about it, or (b) making it out like it's bad when she IS playing with Barbie or playing with a toy kitchen set.
12/27/2011 9:58:43 PM
I place all the blame on this guy

Have you actually watched Disney movies? The Princesses aren't really portrayed as helpless. I think TheDuke is spot on here.

Good God some people are reading way too much into a little girl just wanting a superhero doll put in the same spot as the princess dolls. I think the real tragedy here is she's too goddamn lazy to walk all the aisles of the stores to buy her toys.
