12/29/2011 11:17:10 AM
Having Baltimore in a list of Southern cities makes the whole list moot and makes the OP look like an assholeBut a pretty cool asshole
12/29/2011 11:18:00 AM

12/29/2011 1:10:18 PM
Mason Dixon line ain't shit
12/29/2011 1:12:37 PM
Mason Dixon line doesn't mean jack shit. It's what side your state fought in the war of northern aggression.
12/29/2011 1:17:41 PM
maybe you should actually go visit MD sometime. The people on the eastern shore and in southern maryland are almost exactly like they are in eastern NC, and they have more than their fair share of Appalachia hillbillies in the western part of the state. If you took out the clusterfuck that was Washington DC, you'd never know you weren't in the south.[Edited on December 29, 2011 at 1:21 PM. Reason : Maryland fought itself during the civil war - you really think that war had clean dividing lines?]
12/29/2011 1:19:41 PM
Baltimore, the city in question, is NOT a Southern City. DC is the start of the Northeast Megalopolis.
12/29/2011 1:22:01 PM
so how come Baltimore was the location of the first bloodshed during the civil war, when Union troops got slaughtered by local militias? Hell, they built the slave ships that brought slaves into the south and held one of the largest slave markets in the country.
12/29/2011 1:25:17 PM
lol @ using Civil War references to define what is northern and southern 150 years later
12/29/2011 1:29:07 PM
^NOW VOTE
12/29/2011 1:29:33 PM
^^lol, exactly.Seems like the only definition that you care about is who fought with who in the Civil War. That's no longer relevant and has always been geographically wrong. If you're a fan of hillbillies there's a lot in central PA and all over NY that want to be included in your "southern" definition. And just because I grew up surrounded by cornfields doesn't mean NJ is a "mid-western" state [Edited on December 29, 2011 at 1:31 PM. Reason : GO VOTE!]
12/29/2011 1:30:25 PM
wherever the line is that essentially stops serving sweet tea is where the northern/southern line should be
12/29/2011 1:31:27 PM
the mason-dixon line has always been the dividing line of north and south. Anyone who claims MD can't be in the south because of the civil war apparently doesn't know anything about the civil war.[Edited on December 29, 2011 at 1:35 PM. Reason : ncsuapex brought up the civil war definition, not me. I was only explaining how stupid that was]
12/29/2011 1:34:45 PM
Would you then conclude that Florida is part of the South? How about Louisiana? (correct answer for both is no btw)
12/29/2011 1:44:28 PM
Maryland is NOT a southern state.
12/29/2011 1:46:30 PM
Florida and Louisiana are both southern states, just like Maryland. You want to enlighten us as to why they are not?[Edited on December 29, 2011 at 2:32 PM. Reason : .]
12/29/2011 2:31:56 PM
LOL at the guy that thinks a state is defined as southern because of rednecks and hillbillies. There are tons of rednecks in NY and NJ(you should go there), so I guess those are southern states too
12/29/2011 2:35:22 PM
the rednecks and hillbillies in NY are culturally different than the ones in MD, but the ones in MD aren't much different from those of VA and NC.but a big LOL at the dumbass that thinks the civil war defined the south. Maryland started the fighting of the civil war, and NC pussyfooted around the situation until they had no choice. By your definition, NC is northern.[Edited on December 29, 2011 at 2:39 PM. Raleigh's got a bunch of neat little places but for Durham in general has a better food scene
12/29/2011 2:47:40 PM
Let's keep this about food. I'll start a new thread to argue about North vs South
12/29/2011 3:08:24 PM
Thanks!NO GO VOTE PEOPLE
12/29/2011 3:13:09 PM
there are more important things at hand here than voting, DB
12/29/2011 3:16:36 PM
I voted for Raleigh like a good little sheep, but the idea that the food here is better than new Orleans (or Durham) is a joke.
12/29/2011 3:45:31 PM
oh I'm with you...but lets get NC some shine
