if anyone, liberals should rage over high/higher gas prices. affects no one more than low/middle class...and that conflicts with their green viewsand that conflicts with their elitist attitude about U.S. prices vs world prices (hey, pretty much ^^ that kind of statement).[Edited on January 18, 2012 at 8:40 AM. I'm going to start talking about the possibility of $5 gas so that when it inevitably happens sometime in the next 20 years I can feel really smug for having known it was coming all along.

The liberals want this (as previously mentioned). You want lower gas prices? Then you shouldn't have voted for Obama in '08 and you shouldn't vote for him this fall either.
1/18/2012 12:16:35 PM
I'm not sure that's necessarily true. Most politicians across the entire spectrum see it as their duty to combat high gas prices. It's the same reason the gas tax hasn't been raised since 1993. Not even to account for inflation. Doing anything that could raise gas prices is seen as political suicide.

Your comments show a big understanding on your own consumption of gas.Though your comments show nothing pertaining to the cost of transporting goods which affect prices across the board in virtually every industry. The fact of the matter is, there is more than enough gas available for gas prices to be stable around $2-$3 for decades. For gas to double in price, while we are selling the gas for profit to other countries, shows that the profits aren't being spent to buy more gas. They are spent to line some rich people's pockets.[Edited on January 18, 2012 at 1:52 PM. Reason : .]

Obama did say specifically that he doesn't want to see prices drop below $3 to encourage development of alternate fuel sources. this does not however mean he wants to see them over $4 because he also has said that he knows that will cripple our economy. foo1 - out.

What I think is funny is that every one is worried about running out if fuel. There is wayy more fuel out there than people think. Controlled supply is the only reason prices are high.^ it's not built up as, it is the tipping point. It's when the price difference between the evs and their gas equivilent actually offers a reasonable payback.[Edited on January 19, 2012 at 9:06 AM. Reason : .]
1/19/2012 9:03:27 AM
right now is not a good time to have high gas prices clogging up the already sputtering economy. I'm all for alternate fuels and whatnot, but we have got to get out of this economic rut (and when we do, all you hippies will be better able to afford your nissan leaves.)
