Don't they typically raise the price when they anticipate a spike in demand?
2/14/2012 8:00:01 AM
HT also puts up diabetes testing ad/signs in the cookie aisle lol
2/14/2012 8:02:41 AM
Is this the first time you've shopped at HT? They ALWAYS have ice cream on sale.
2/14/2012 8:03:30 AM
yeah, their brand is ALWAYS 2/$5...though their frozen yogurt isn't always on sale...it was available 3/$10 last weekactually, there's always at least one brand of ice cream on sale at any given time...at least, that's the case at food lion and HT[Edited on February 14, 2012 at 8:06 AM. Reason : .]

Their store brand (which is actually Hunter's) is pure awesomeness. Better than Bryers.
2/14/2012 8:26:44 AM
Yeah the HT premium is good stuff. It did used to be Hunter Farms but then they rebranded everything that used to be Hunter (except the milk for some reason) since I'm pretty sure HT owns Hunter. I agree on the better than Breyers part, though they have a few less flavors.
2/14/2012 8:45:40 AM
My grandmother had told me that they aren't, but my family's involvement in HT mgmt ended before they were bought out, as I learned here:http://hunterfarms.com/aboutus.html[Edited on February 14, 2012 at 8:52 AM. Reason : They are owned by HT, NOW]

2/14/2012 8:57:29 AM
last time I got magic shell, i put it in the fridge without thinkingit doesn't work like that
2/14/2012 9:00:58 AM
lol
2/14/2012 9:01:26 AM
Mint does not belong in ice cream.
2/14/2012 9:25:19 AM
Lies.
2/14/2012 9:25:53 AM
I've never liked homemade ice cream. It's never dense enough.

Maybe I didn't use the correct adjective. Watery? Maybe the dozen or so different people that have made it were clueless.
2/14/2012 9:34:10 AM
haha, OP.

^^^ I think the word you're looking for is icy. And yes, a lot of homemade ice cream is icy. But thanks to my fran that taught me how to make good ice cream mine is no longer icy. I brought some in for my coworkers today and some of them are eating it for breakfast. Bunch of fatties ITO.[Edited on February 14, 2012 at 9:36 AM. Reason : z]
2/14/2012 9:36:00 AM
The homemade ice cream I have always had doesn't taste creamy enough. Like flavored creamy ice.
2/14/2012 9:36:24 AM
Mine is creamy But with 2 cups of whole milk and 1.5 cups of heavy cream it should be haha.
2/14/2012 9:37:22 AM
^^ and ^^^Bingo.]
2/14/2012 9:37:39 AM
Maybe my recipes just called for 2x as much sugar and cream as they were supposed to *shrug*
2/14/2012 9:38:03 AM
Morbidly Obese Motherfuckers ITT
2/14/2012 9:39:53 AM
my homemade ice cream ends up like a vanilla slushy.ima assume im doing it wrong.machine similar to this? i see some others in here are making a mess similar to mine.
2/14/2012 9:48:52 AM
I've got this: But if I were to replace it I'd get this:
2/14/2012 9:51:10 AM
Do y'all put homemade ice cream in the freezer after you take it out of the churn? That firms it up.
2/14/2012 9:52:04 AM
well how do i fix this next time? it tastes great but the consistency is complete crap-i want creamy!
2/14/2012 9:52:12 AM
- Make sure the container is completely frozen before churning ice cream.- Make sure your ice cream mix is super cold before churning.- Try a different recipe to see if the ratios are off, thus causing too many rogue ice crystals.

Made some mint chocolate chip last night - most of what we consider "ice cream" is actually custard, shooting for about 18% milkfat contentUsed 2 cups half & half, 1 cup whipping cream, 8oz of sugar, 6 egg yolks, 1.5tsp peppermint extract, ~1.5-2 cups mini-chocolate chips, some green food coloringAmazing! And I use that cuisinart pictured above. Really cold base and really cold ice cream mixer are the key to making good custard
2/14/2012 10:06:42 AM
I don't mess with egg yolks. I'd rather use my eggs for breakfast
2/14/2012 10:07:50 AM
^ then you're doing it wrong[Edited on February 14, 2012 at 10:09 AM. Reason : no wonder your ice cream is icy, you have no binding agent]
2/14/2012 10:08:29 AM
uhh, I never said my ice cream was icy. You're confusing me with someone else
2/14/2012 10:10:05 AM
2/14/2012 10:11:17 AM
Right, my ice cream is no longer icy. And I don't use eggs in my ice cream. Eggs aren't the only binding agent available out there
2/14/2012 10:12:00 AM
Everyone buy harris teeter brand dairy products. That is all.
