ibtmoneyball2.0-fueledworldseriesrunGo A's. Phuck the MLB system.
2/22/2012 9:29:29 PM
i'll go to a few games this year i'm sure, but only b/c it's way cheaper than the giants.really hard to adopt a team that is trying so hard to leave.
2/22/2012 9:33:40 PM
at least it won't be tooo far - and the brand/logo from ye olde days stays the same:
2/22/2012 9:38:19 PM
2/22/2012 9:49:07 PM
LMAO what is this ish
2/22/2012 9:52:40 PM
less than a month until opening day in japan!
3/2/2012 3:57:22 PM
lol that's the best .gif i've ever seen
3/2/2012 4:06:18 PM
3/2/2012 4:09:08 PM
bring back Damon and Giambi too!
3/2/2012 4:38:25 PM
Don't forget about Mark Mulder, Zito, and Isringhausen as well!Seriously I am not sure I can name a regular on the As right now. Don't they have some fast CF that steal bases, I might draft him in fantasy just so I'll care about something that has to do with this team.
3/2/2012 5:22:43 PM
uh yeah, he's called Coco Crisp.
3/2/2012 9:38:13 PM
3/3/2012 11:59:49 AM
Yeah I was talking about Rajai Davis. I would never draft fucking Coco Crisp.
3/3/2012 3:32:35 PM
3/3/2012 5:27:09 PM
huh?He played for the A's last season, didn't he?
3/3/2012 5:57:20 PM
Toronto
3/3/2012 6:16:20 PM
Ah, then he played for Oakland the year before then.I'm usually pretty drunk whenever I'm at an A's game
3/3/2012 6:23:14 PM
Haha, I can't imagine watching an As game in any other condition
3/3/2012 9:55:56 PM
I can't remember being less excited for a season to start for the A's. Beane traded away all the good players and then got some Cuban guy that I am sure will be worthless. They should make a movie about his brilliant moves, oh wait, they already did.
3/3/2012 10:23:59 PM
You're probably right there, unfortunately. Beane shifted focus to the speculative 2015 san jose move by trading young major talent for so many minor prospects. He went high risk/reward with "over the hill" pickups like colon and manny, but we probably wouldn't be better than TX or LAA for the next few years anyways.Still the chance to get lucky like in 2006 when frank thomas mashed our way to the ALCS
3/5/2012 8:31:05 AM
Oh well I screwed up on Rajai Davis. Still proves my original point that I could not name a regular on the As roster. Have fun this season trying to not lose 100 games and draw more than 750,000 fans.
3/5/2012 8:58:59 AM
A battle with Seattle for last place in the West
3/5/2012 11:53:42 AM
All the haters can suck it. $2 Wednesdays are the only reason I even started watching baseball on a regular basis in the first place
3/5/2012 1:38:13 PM
the beginning of the cuban defector moneyball strategy began at 5am this morning....GO YOENIS
3/29/2012 5:28:22 PM
on the tail of a four game winning streak...GOODNIGHT SWEET PRINCE I doubt anyone has room on their roster for you
6/16/2012 10:49:51 AM
Can't say I am sad to see him go. If Moss keeps hitting homers every game we don't need him anyways.
6/16/2012 10:23:15 PM
tttwe release Manny from the AAA team - and go on a tear in July to become legit contenders for AL Wild Card... who woulda thunkit?
7/20/2012 10:47:42 AM
Gotta give a lot of credit to the As for somehow managing to be good this year. Josh Reddick was a coup for them. I'm sure they'll fade as they start playing the Rangers and Angels more down the stretch, but gg and I'll eat crow for calling them shitty.[Edited on July 20, 2012 at 12:07 PM. Reason : g]

16-0 shut out?3rd best record in the AL?31-14 record since Jun 2?1st in the wild card standings?OH WE BACK [Edited on July 26, 2012 at 1:08 AM. Reason : ]

7/26/2012 1:08:39 AM
14-9 win with 6 in the top of the ninth vs. BAL ?!?! omfg what an exciting seasonalso surprised by this post from MLB thread:
7/28/2012 3:31:01 PM
The bash brothers are back.
7/28/2012 9:05:50 PM
if we can somehow beat Price and the Rays tonight, then we clinch the best July record in franchise history (19-4)
7/30/2012 5:52:38 PM
Beat the rays in 15 to clinch best July ever! Yet another walk off win to add to the tally for the season.
7/31/2012 10:07:38 PM
where did chris carter come from this year? he was such a bust for so many years and then... BOOM still in the playoff hunt, although we have the toughest Strength Of Schedule remaining vs. other contenders
8/25/2012 1:31:42 PM
ahahaha A's up 20-2 over Boston in the 8th7 game win streak...is this actually going to happen?
9/1/2012 1:00:54 AM
68.2% chance of making the playoffs right now according to the most conservative site out there: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/ Interesting the change over the last 7 days was +40%!!!But that is not taking into account the TOUGH schedule that we have coming up against LAA, NYY, BAL, DET, and TEX. Only sub-.500 team we play is SEA, but they're actually looking pretty good these days.Of course, if we somehow keep the winning up against these teams - then we might end up winning the AL West instead of settling for a one-game WC playoff game.Easily the most surprising team in baseball this year, and still cant get much national love because of the major metro market bandwagon teams. phuck ESPN[Edited on September 1, 2012 at 11:24 AM. Reason : scoreboard bitches, take that BoSox bandwagon nation]
9/1/2012 11:22:43 AM
welp, 9 game win streak is overnow that we are back to playing real competition again, it'll be REALLY interesting to see how the wild card race pans out...
9/3/2012 7:42:23 PM
Sweep by the Angels hurts, and to make it even worse McCarthy takes a line drive to the head.
9/5/2012 11:17:07 PM
so if the A's make the playoffs, do all the reporters who poopoo'd moneyball last year all write mea culpas?
9/6/2012 1:13:48 AM
A's take the first 2 games in a HUGE series against LA on the road...This team is just nuts
9/12/2012 1:23:48 AM
you said it! don't have much hope we can beat Weaver on Thurs - maybe we can grab another from Santana tonight???
9/12/2012 9:27:19 AM
12 road wins in a row, you say?3 back behind Texas? TEXAS??Hard not to be optimistic about these dudes in green/gold right now[Edited on September 13, 2012 at 2:18 AM. Reason : fuck the orioles and thier media coverage]
9/13/2012 2:16:54 AM
the two surprise teams of the AL meet this wkend. lets hope that Saunders forgot how to shut us down like he did with the halos. We lit up Britton on his last start against us - they havent named a starter for Sunday yet... (thankfully not hamels)
9/14/2012 5:35:26 PM
HUGE game tonightand it's Star Wars fireworks!
9/14/2012 7:58:37 PM
why are the A's a bigger surprise this year than the O's??? #wins per $payroll spendBaltimore $81,428,288Oakland $55,372,500historically speaking, yes, the O's have been out of the picture for longer... but they have more 'stars' and 'talent' for spending ~50% more than the A's[Edited on September 15, 2012 at 2:56 PM. Reason : stats]
9/15/2012 2:56:08 PM
considering how the a's have operated since billy beane took over as GM, i don't think saying the a's are a bigger surprise than [another team] because they've won a lot of games with a small payroll means as much as it used to because it's been the case every time they've had a winning season.to me it's basically winning despite having limited resources vs. winning in spite of being historically really bad at effectively using your resources to maximize your return on investment in the form of wins. don't get me wrong, i think what the a's do is great, and they forced a lot of teams to rethink the way they go about player acquisition, but i just think it's more impressive that everything has had to go perfectly right for the orioles to have this kind of season. money is something you can control. the orioles' luck is not.and saying "the A's spend $X, the O's spend $Y," doesn't account for the fact that the A's have a much better farm system than the orioles and should be in much better shape to compete over the long term. we basically have dylan bundy and i guess kevin gausman maybe, and then our farm system falls off a cliff.and the rays and blue jays have both had a ton of injuries this year, and that has made a difference since we play both of them 20 times. both of those teams should be in better shape next year, which will make it tougher for the O's to win games in their division. meanwhile, the A's will get to feast on the houston astros when they move to the AL west next year. I think you're underestimating how tough the AL west is.Texas and LA are freaking LOADED with talent. We 'stole' a bunch of games and got lucky throughout the season as well... I'd also argue that Seattle is better than Boston or Toronto right now.But yes, I'm looking forward to having Houston to beat up on next season [Edited on September 15, 2012 at 5:38 PM. Reason : .]
9/15/2012 5:37:33 PM
i'm not saying the AL west isn't tough. texas isn't going anywhere any time soon. the angels will probably hang around for a while, but their farm system isn't that great and they have a lot of money tied up in aging players. i don't know a whole lot about the mariners. the AL west just doesn't seem like it'd be as hopeless as the east does with new york, tampa and toronto looking the way they do, and if boston can quickly turn things around with the money they just freed up then they'll be back in contention too. i'd rather the orioles be in the AL west.
