That's just awful.I feel like everyone is a victim of the biological mother's spiteful behavior.

If the article is accurate I only feel bad for achane. The adoption center deserves a lawsuit too. The family and mother are selfish jackasses.[Edited on December 7, 2012 at 9:06 PM. Reason : .]

Yep. I mean, I would feel bad for the family if they were being cooperative and doing the right thing, and were just victims of a bad circumstance, but in light of what they're doing, I hope Terry Achane sues them, the adoption agency, and his worthless cunt of an ex-wife, who should count herself lucky that he hasn't already justifiably shot her in the face.[Edited on December 7, 2012 at 9:10 PM. Couples who adopt are usually so desperate to adopt that they will enter into a risky adoption and hope for the best. I feel for the adoptive parents. That have had that child its entire life and it would be traumatic for all of them to suddenly be separated. I can understand their reluctance to let the child go. But the bio father and little girl have the right to be a family. The adoptive parents need to come to some sort of compromise with him to smooth the transition.

If the kid is potty trained, it's the family's. He doesn't get to skip past the hard parts.

The family should be ashamed of themselves. Who the fuck would donate to a legal fund for this situation?

It's a sad situation, but it cracks me up how terrified those 2 black kids look in that picture.
The faces on the two black kids in hat picture are hilarious

I wouldn't be so quick to judge the mother. Duke, you well know that just because someone's in the military doesn't mean he's a good guy. We don't know the details of the case. I would say she is justified if the father was abusive or verbally threatening. Of course she wouldn't want him to contact her or know about the baby. What would motivate someone to run to another state and have a secret adoption? Duke immediately assumes "crazy bitch," which is totally unfair. I'll reserve judgement until more information comes out. ]
12/9/2012 10:22:24 AM
I'm glad it's not just I who finds duke's "crazy bitch" or "worthless cunt of an ex-wife" offensive. I know you have had your share of custody issues with a "crazy bitch" but it's getting old at this point that any woman who does something you disagree with gets branded the crazy.FTR I'm sad for all and hope this

if this dude moved to south carolina when his wife was 7 months pregnant how did he not know he had a kid
12/9/2012 11:27:54 AM
I don't know that there will be any more information coming, Nerdchick. The case was decided, the father was awarded custody, and the couple in Utah was ordered to turn little Leah over to her daddy within 60 days. Unless the Freis fail to comply with the court order or is successful in the appeal (which is not a re-trial...the only way appeals overturn things is if an overwhelming case for the contrary is presented), I expect that this one will fade from the news, because there's nothing really remaining to talk about.I don't have sympathy for him or make any positive assumptions just because he's in the military. There are bad people in the military just like anywhere else. However, there's no information out there about him that paints him in a negative light, other than his ex's claim that he left her while she was pregnant (on military orders--who knows if he sought those or if he just PCS or went extended TAD/TDY because Big Army said to...it doesn't really matter either way). Even his ex hasn't made any accusations of abusive or threatening behavior. Hell, in family court, you can just up make shit up--it's pretty routine (not just in my case, although it happened to me both times I went to court. I even busted my ex (with photographic evidence) for lying under oath one time, and nothing really happened other than it lended even more credibility to my side.) Even there, she apparently didn't claim him to be threatening or abusive--she just said that "he wasn't there for me." It looks pretty clear to me that all the evidence we have points to her being a wretched, deplorable human being, and there isn't really anything that casts Mr. Achane in a negative light, other than that he couldn't get along with his wife (who knows where the faults lie there--I think a safe bet would be that she carries a lot of the blame, based on everything else we know--but regardless, you don't get your kid secretly taken away because you split from your spouse).I mean, maybe there's more to the story, but it seems exceedingly unlikely at this point that game-changing information would just now be coming out.

your rage toward your crazy bitch really blinds you in discussions like thistake a step back, mayne
12/9/2012 11:52:15 AM
Blinds me? Tell him where I'm wrong, then, or what I'm failing to consider/turning a blind eye to. Where am I not being objective?I think that it certainly makes me react a lot more hotly, because I know what it's like to have a daughter kept from me and even hidden from me for no good reason, but I think I'm perfectly capable of judging the situation objectively.[Edited on December 9, 2012 at 12:07 PM. This seems like a pretty black and white case [nopun], regardless of the character of the parties involved. On a side note, why do white people think they can keep adopting all these future NFL offensive tackles?
