Neil deGrasse Tyson says:February 17, 2013 at 7:12 pmI could have sworn I heard the fellow in the recent Thor movie say that Mjolnir was forged **of** the material of a dying star. If not, I stand corrected. And, I suppose, even if he did say what I thought, I stand corrected — I gladly defer (as should we all) to hard-core Comic Book people. But now you’re stuck making up all kinds of supernatural forces to account for the behavior of what is otherwise an obviously heavy object that even the Hulk can’t lift.-NDTyson, NYC.

I don't think a hammer made of neutron-star matter would be particularly stablemy seventh-grade science teacher (Mr. Bigham at Apex Middle...I only mention him b/c he was sort of a legend) once told us that if a teaspoonful of neutron-star matter were somehow introduced to the Earth's surface, it would immediately plummet to the Earth's core and come almost all the way out on the other side, and then oscillate like that for awhile (he didn't say how long)

yeah, in retrospect...he was the man. My buddy works at the credit union in Apex, and still sees him sometimes. He's doing fine, last I heard.
