TWW News!Good luck to them.I'm wondering why the submersible doesn't stay tethered to the parent ship by a line that can be winched up if needed.

Another sub is probably holding the billionaire on board for ransom.

That article up there says that they had to be bolted in from the outside. So even if they float to the top, someone has to unscrew some port holes to let them out.One would think they would have the foresight to keep a demolition hammer on board with a couple of 40V Dewalt batteries for an emergency escape.

If the hull collapsed i wonder what the bodies look like if they find the vessel and bring it back up
6/20/2023 10:24:31 AM
I'd be surprised if there was anything recognizable as a body in that case.
6/20/2023 11:56:01 AM
I bet the Titanic ghosts captured them
6/20/2023 12:18:34 PM
They never caught the iceberg. It's still out there.
6/20/2023 12:20:30 PM
IMO more rich people should do this
6/20/2023 12:40:54 PM
The thing has been exposed to be made from off the shelf parts from here and there. It is steered by a literal video game controller. The ballasts are some commercial pipes. They signed a waiver that says they agree that the vehicle is not certified by any body.250,000 to poop and pee in Ziploc bags... yeah, I'mma pass even if I had that much to spare until tourist rides to the Titanic become somewhat 'common' using proper vessels, plus, yeah, insurance in case of death.
6/20/2023 12:55:47 PM
I bet they stayed up all night playing COD and they forgot to put their controller back on charge before heading down
6/20/2023 2:59:38 PM
please guysi have a match titanic sub tonight

These dudes have been farting, pissing, and shitting inside of a minivan for how many days now? That thing has got to reek

James Cameron gonna start working on a Titanic/The Abyss sequel/mashup after this?Titanic 2: Return to the Abyss
6/21/2023 9:19:53 AM
This reminds me of the time I had to hold my breath in a portable john due to an old egg roll
6/21/2023 9:23:32 AM
^^^ I want to know the properties of those 4.8 km of pipe. According to an underwater robot expert I watched yesterday, ocean currents would heavily affect a 12,000 foot long cable.
6/21/2023 12:02:25 PM
Was the submersible planning to actually go inside the wreckage of the Titanic? If so, maybe that is why they didn't bother with a tether as it would have gotten tangled up on stuff. But honestly, based upon what I've read, the owner was cutting corners with costs and safety everywhere. A tether strong enough would be very expensive and he'd likely not have wanted to pay for it.

^^They had a lot of extra weight on the end. This is a great documentary:https://www.amazon.com/Azorian-Raising-K-129-Michael-White/dp/B008QTU7QYI have it on DVD. Crazy engineering.]
6/21/2023 2:50:31 PM
But wait, somebody just posted the whole documentary on YouTube. This quite literally was not there last night (because I checked). Get it before they potentially take it down:Definitely worth a watch for engineering nerds.

^^Dang it. I didn't test that video. It's just a long video telling you to click a redirect link to a sketchy third party site. Sorry. Here's at least the trailer to the real documentary film:]

Sounds like they’ve pretty much called it.I can only hope that this will put stricter requirements on what passes for a tourism vessel. Sounds like this company had no business operating the way it did in the first place. I’m amazed that this sub has made as many trips as it had.But like one of the CNN articles said, there have been much worse sea disasters that received less coverage.
6/22/2023 3:23:52 PM
a Republican making the case for more regulation?I’ll take it
6/22/2023 3:56:11 PM
When a handful of sight-seeing rich people is troubled in a submarine, an extensive search and rescue operation is mobilized. When dozens of migrants fleeing life or death conditions is troubled in a boat, the world makes up excuses on why they deserve to drown.
6/22/2023 4:56:12 PM
^damn brah you gettin' rhetorically deep deep as the Titanic amirite
6/22/2023 6:14:26 PM
6/22/2023 6:41:43 PM
Looks like we’re disclosing top secret capabilities now due to these fuckers
6/22/2023 7:14:20 PM
Good thing the debris didn’t land on the Titanic
6/22/2023 7:14:47 PM
God forbid a totally irrelevant shipwreck become damaged
6/22/2023 7:50:56 PM
What did the Titanic ever do to you? Seems rather callous
6/22/2023 8:21:35 PM
I was actually kinda hoping they did land on the Titanic wreck
6/22/2023 8:28:03 PM
Fuck James Cameron
6/22/2023 8:28:38 PM
why would they have not had a way to be trackable?I guess because they went too deep?why no GPS approximate location?(I haven't looked too deeply into this, so sorry if this is a dumb/obvious question)
6/22/2023 8:29:24 PM
for real, how did they not have a clear satellite signal when 6,000 feet below the surface :3
6/22/2023 8:44:45 PM
They will rest forever along with Jack's famed drawings:
6/22/2023 8:56:09 PM
well they could have made a way to be tracked ok whatever
