What say you?

https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/wake-forest/article311540915.html

I’m sorry, but if someone extremely intoxicated comes up to me and my family, I can’t say that I would not have done the same thing. It was just one punch. One very unfortunate punch. I feel like the justice system got it right here, but this lady is trying to wreck the guys life with a civil suit for which he’ll never be able to pay.

I am a little curious though as to why manslaughter wasn’t brought into the mix. Any TWW lawyers still left around?

Quote :
"Mother pursues civil action Two weeks after Jones’ sentencing in 2020, Kent filed her civil complaint against Jones and Wake Forest, seeking monetary damages for the actions and negligence that led to Szabo’s death. Kent said the suit is not about money, rather pursuing accountability that she didn’t believe criminal court achieved."

$18 Million won't bring back her son. Terrible situation all around.
The lady sucks. Her son is responsible for being intoxicated in public. Unfortunately, it led to his death, even if the details are still a little fuzzy surrouding the situation.

Quote :
"Szabo loved the ocean. He loved to spend his time in the water, whether spearfishing, swimming or diving. That’s why Kent decided to place his ashes in a coral reef in Florida, known as Eternal Reefs. His ashes were mixed with a concrete to withstand the salt water and shaped into a pearl to rest inside a clay vase. The vase is covered with mementos that represent him — things like a glass Pickle Rick figurine from the show Rick and Morty that he loved, a bronze symbol to represent Hawaii where Szabo was born and the paw print of his dog, Tank. Every year, Kent and the rest of the family visit the reef on Szabo’s birthday and anniversary of his death. Sometimes, they dive into the water to see the vase and the fish that swim around it."

She should get a $5,000 vacation voucher from Jones once a year until she is too old to travel.

IDK, i am the tww executioner

But yeah, this is just a sad case. It's hard to fault the former WF coach. It's not like he beat the guy to a bloody pulp. He punched him once time after the guy busted his window. Assault is probably the right charge there, even with the outcome. Hope this lady gets a modest judgement in the civil suit, but not millions of dollars. Also her attorney seems like an insufferable cunt.

The article made it sound like Wake Forest was originally a co-defendant in the civil case. The judge dismissed Wake Forest eventually. I would bet that Sabor's family was suing for so much in a civil case because they thought Wake Forest was on the hook too.

Sad case all around. If I were on that jury though, I would be more willing to paint Sabor as an aggressive drunk that got his ass handed to him. Jones has been through enough, and I do not believe that his negligence added to the death of Sabor.

Also, a decent person who accidentally does something like this would be thoroughly wrecked, mentally. Going after him for so much money is just rubbing salt in what is probably a gaping mental wound.

I like Kickstand’s idea - that seems fair. Pay for the trip down to FL for her to pay her respects. Although since it would be annually, that might be deemed cruel and unusual.
