I want to buy a very high quality and expensive annealed knife. It needs to have that layered look that comes from folding and folding the metal... Does anyone know a reputable place to buy one? I don't want to buy some cheesey crap at the flea market, but I don't know anything about knife brands. Help me out! Here's a picture of the type of metal that I'm looking for. I don't like the way this knife looks at all, though... I just want this type of metal:

I'm guessing a nice Gerber or something it not going to get it done? Was given a Crawford/Kasper for groomsman this weekend. The double lock and easy open are niiiiice

if you want a folding pocket knife that will always be sharper than anyone's buck knife pig-sticker, get a folding box-cutter. Always roughly razor sharp. I think they used to call them super-knives. whatever. whenever it dulls, just flip the blade around and go to town. Then throw it away and replace it for cheapThey sell them at just about any hardware store advertised by John Maddenand i think the "folded" look you're talking about is "damascus" or (if etched just for looks) "faux damascus"oh and to answer your question: A Gun showThere are some really creepy guys there that compose their own metals and form the blades themselves and I guess on whatever "knife quality" scale that may or may not exist, I'm sure they're about as high as you can get[Edited on November 21, 2009 at 11:03 PM. I found this sick knife on a beach in tobago, was probably used to kill turtles but i didn't take it because there's no way i could've gotten it through customs. They confiscated my khaki shorts. I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

get one of those useless knives that are like, just a handle with a thin blade protruding from the knuckles for like "punch-stabbing" things. im sure those have a lot of uses outside of hurting yourself
11/21/2009 11:08:47 PM
yeah, some of the carving is over-the-top, but other handles are a lot simpler. i've been tempted to get one, but i have absolutely no idea what i'd do with it
11/21/2009 11:09:21 PM
use the shit out of it then hide it somewhere so your grandkids find it and think you are badassI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

you, sir, make a compelling point
11/21/2009 11:12:03 PM
herei knife with a CO2 cartridge in the hilt that will shoot the blade out at close to the speed of sound. Good for whittling pipes at 100yds
11/21/2009 11:12:45 PM
That isn't what that knife does.I'm pretty sure the CO2 is released through a hole in the blade's tip upon penetration, creating a basketball-sized pocket of air in whatever was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end.[Edited on November 21, 2009 at 11:18 PM. Reason : .]
11/21/2009 11:17:10 PM
^that is far superior
11/21/2009 11:19:52 PM
dude, i like your idea betteryou could use that bad boy to doom-fuck a goose so that the fat and skin is peeled off in one quick karate move
11/21/2009 11:19:56 PM
yes... that is exactly the intent of this knife... a goose stripper
11/21/2009 11:38:37 PM
you cant seriously tell me you believe one of the iron chef's wouldn't use that bad boy to do something unspeakably sweet to a carcass of some sort( + )/=

11/22/2009 3:19:55 PM

11/22/2009 3:22:42 PM
i got me a spyderco tenacious and some assisted-open gerber last week, and that's about the top threshold i'll spend on a pocket knife
11/22/2009 3:33:28 PM
I'm ok spending ~1000 bucks or so if it's truly worth it and if I really like itproblem is that I don't know jack about knives. Gotta get edumacated before I drop a g

11/24/2009 6:46:23 PM

Check Army-Navy stores. My brother got a sweet knife with a blue marbled blade at the Army-Navy store. They sold it to him when he was about 15. Responsibility FTW!
