I want to buy a very high quality and expensive annealed knife. It needs to have that layered look that comes from folding and folding the metal... Does anyone know a reputable place to buy one? I don't want to buy some cheesey crap at the flea market, but I don't know anything about knife brands. Help me out!

Here's a picture of the type of metal that I'm looking for. I don't like the way this knife looks at all, though... I just want this type of metal:

I'm guessing a nice Gerber or something it not going to get it done?

Was given a Crawford/Kasper for groomsman this weekend. The double lock and easy open are niiiiice

if you want a folding pocket knife that will always be sharper than anyone's buck knife pig-sticker, get a folding box-cutter. Always roughly razor sharp. I think they used to call them super-knives. whatever. whenever it dulls, just flip the blade around and go to town. Then throw it away and replace it for cheap
They sell them at just about any hardware store advertised by John Madden

and i think the "folded" look you're talking about is "damascus" or (if etched just for looks) "faux damascus"

oh and to answer your question: A Gun show

There are some really creepy guys there that compose their own metals and form the blades themselves and I guess on whatever "knife quality" scale that may or may not exist, I'm sure they're about as high as you can get

I found this sick knife on a beach in tobago, was probably used to kill turtles but i didn't take it because there's no way i could've gotten it through customs. They confiscated my khaki shorts.

get one of those useless knives that are like, just a handle with a thin blade protruding from the knuckles for like "punch-stabbing" things. im sure those have a lot of uses outside of hurting yourself

yeah, some of the carving is over-the-top, but other handles are a lot simpler. i've been tempted to get one, but i have absolutely no idea what i'd do with it

here

i knife with a CO2 cartridge in the hilt that will shoot the blade out at close to the speed of sound. Good for whittling pipes at 100yds

That isn't what that knife does.

I'm pretty sure the CO2 is released through a hole in the blade's tip upon penetration, creating a basketball-sized pocket of air in whatever was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end.

Never been to the gun and knife show... Do they have truly nice stuff or just nice looking stuff that rednecks show off to each other?

my gf's dad is a knifesmith, forges them himself and makes the handles and sheaths, but it will cost you $texas$ if you want one made

your best bet is a high end commercial one if you are looking to spend less than a grand

Check Army-Navy stores. My brother got a sweet knife with a blue marbled blade at the Army-Navy store. They sold it to him when he was about 15. Responsibility FTW!
