ok...this is to counteract the annoyances thread....because honestly...sometimes good things happen at work...I'll start...It's nice to have a customer call that is really interested in what's going on and knows how to be friendly without going that extra step and crossing into aggravating. Sometimes you can learn as much from these people as they learn from you. It's also nice to have a friendly voice on the other end of the line that wants to chat about important things instead of just bitching about things that are out of your control.

I will say that when people thank you for doing something for them that you didn't have to do...it makes me smile.better?
7/14/2008 4:02:48 PM
actually i have another one...it's nice when somebody goes out of their way to help me when i'm in a bind because it will, in turn, help them out...even though it's not necessary and they don't have to do it...Thank you Jennie...if you can get that article to me you will be my new hero!

I'm good friends with a few people at work. And I get to see puppies and kittens on a regular basis working at a vet clinic. I enjoy feeling productive, and completing large projects. I'm glad for the skills I've developed in terms of hiring, training, and making schedules for nearly 30 people as well as financial and marketing skills. I like that I'll get to go on radio again through my work place. I like the employee discount since I have 2 pets. I like the free lunches that come with meetings. I like the family feel of a small business that shuts down for 3 hours to have holiday meals together. I'm not really passionate about this job, but I am grateful for the skills it is helping me develop for when I do find a career.

coffee clatchoccasionally we'll all take a break at about the same time (and by we, I mean the ladies in the office) and sit in the back and chat over tea or coffee. it's a fun 15 minutes, and the bossmen don't get mad at us. friday one of the ladies wasn't at the table, and her bossman went to find her to make sure she knew we were all having our "coffee clatch"also /message_topic.aspx?topic=528771

being paid salary but only being responsible for 35 hours a week....every other friday off in the summer...relative autonomy toward my position from both my boss and his boss...a couple friends who i can somewhat trust, and it's almost exactly what i want to be doing professionally...plus it sets me up for the next move

I get to work pretty independently. No one hovers and asks how things are coming along.Whoever makes the coffee makes it strong. At least 2 days out of the week there's some kind of free goodies in the kitchen. We aren't pressured to donate to charities and buy fundraising shit from co-workers' kids. The only money of my own that I ever spend on work-related stuff is a staff lunch, of which we have 4 per year. I contribute less than $10 to one lunch and get 3 free meals in return.
